Off to the Races in the 2025 School Year!

Fall quarter classes have officially begun! Our team has been busy welcoming new recruits, keeping on top of assignments, and has started meeting again in person. Our new recruits meeting was met with so much success, and we currently have over 200 applications! We can’t wait to work with all the incoming members.

Summer Session Updates

FRUCD is proud to report that we have wrapped up another competition season! We didn’t get the competition results we were hoping for. On Day 4, we were unable to advance to the EV Active Technical Inspection due to persistent electrical issues. As a result, we were not able to compete in any of the dynamic events, including endurance, the same event we fell short in last year with FE11. However, these results are not a reflection of this team’s success. FE12 was an improvement in many ways:

Preparing for Competition

As the school year draws to a close and competition approaches quickly, our team has been putting in the hours to ensure everything runs smoothly.

In Unsprung, the wheel package manufacturing is finally complete and final adjustments have been made in order to get it on the car.

Aerodynamics’ carbon fiber elements have been printed!  Check out the footage below of some rotational angular sensor mounts being manufactured on the CNC machine. These sensors will be used to gather data on the behaviour of the car’s suspension.

April Updates

As competition draws closer, our team is wrapping up many components and preparing for the trip. The livery has been finalized and sponsor logos have been adhered! We can’t wait to see everything assembled.

Manufacturing Mania!

While winter quarter wound down, our team did the opposite, staying busy with working on the car and finals.

Unsprung focused on wheel package manufacturing this month and is almost done! The tripod housing, one of the more complex parts, is finalized, and they are now wrapping up other components. For example, the brake rotors and brake hats are being fit together, as seen in the test image below!

Amazing Events and Even Better Welding

February has been a short but packed month here at FRUCD. We had many amazing outreach events this month, including lectures, company events, and socials!

Dr. J. Zhou from SAE International gave an amazing lecture to our team on AV and EV reliability. At this meeting our teams had the opportunity to learn about autonomous and electric vehicles as we move towards a future with more sustainable transportation. It is always exciting to learn more about these topics in commercial and racing vehicles and how we can apply them to our learning here at FRUCD!

FE12: Driven by the Heart

Our team is back from break and more driven than ever! Our subteams have taken this month to make amazing progress on many different manufacturing projects, and FE12 is slowly being pieced together by all subteams.

Chassis, Media, and Film!

The team has just returned from winter break feeling refreshed and ready to start work again. While juggling finals and the impending break, our members got started on the manufacturing stage of FE12.

Finishing The Design Phase

Thank you for all the support on our Fall Into Gear November Crowdfund! We raised $6100 over the month, surpassing our goal. Thank you so much to everyone who donated!
