Chassis, Media, and Film!
The team has just returned from winter break feeling refreshed and ready to start work again. While juggling finals and the impending break, our members got started on the manufacturing stage of FE12.
Our chassis subteam has been particularly busy since they received the laser-notched tubes and spent a week of break profiling and welding them. The chassis tubes are now almost finished thanks to our team members’ dedication and Applied Lasers' continued support! During the rest of the winter quarter, they will be working with the other subteams to weld all the necessary tabs onto the chassis.
Right before the break, we hosted a media day to take group and individual photos of our team members. It was a great team-building exercise and featured the team wearing their signature navy blue polos. Our media can now be updated, including headshots for some members’ profiles. Thanks to Andre for taking the group photos!
This month also saw the introduction to an upcoming collaboration with Davis Film Society. This fellow UC Davis club is working hard to produce a documentary on the creation of FE12. The crew has been chosen and production of the film is scheduled to take place in the next few days. This is such an exciting opportunity for people to learn more about FRUCD through the medium of film, and a great way to collaborate with and learn from other students on campus.
We hope the break was a restful time for all UC Davis students and we can’t wait to get back into the swing of productivity here at FRUCD. The manufacturing process is now fully underway, and it will be so rewarding to see FE12 come together in the following months.
