Bringing the Heat to Picnic Day

Spring quarter is in full swing with our team’s official rollout of FE13 complete! Formula Racing returned to the UC Davis Picnic Day Parade, bringing the heat with their fiery new livery for Michigan. Alongside the reveal of a fully functional race car, the team has much more to share from the month of April.

Wheelpackage has completed their assembly onto the car, allowing for both a successful track day at Bluemax Kart Club and our participation in the 112th Picnic Day Parade. Thank you to Bluemax for their generous support of our team!

Rolling Toward a Complete Rolling Chassis

The road to Michigan continues for FRUCD. Here’s everything you need to know to get up to speed on Davis’s formula racing team this February.

Our February crowdfund, Fueling Our Way to Competition, has concluded. We are excited and grateful to announce that we have exceeded our fundraising target. Thank you, donors, for your generosity and continued support.

Many Firsts for FRUCD to Start 2026

FRUCD is racing flat out into the new year. In the opening stages of the 2026 winter quarter, we have been hard at work across all our subteams.

Crossing the Finish Line on Fall Quarter

With the end of the fall quarter fast approaching, our entire team has been busy balancing exams and team projects.

This past month, our fall crowdfund raised $3,810, raising a total of 45% of our goal! Thank you to all of our generous donors who make this crowdfunding possible. If you’d like to show support to our team beyond the annual crowdfunds, a year-round donation link has been re-added to our website through Give UC Davis. Check it out on our homepage or down below.

October's Conclusion, and the Launch of our November Crowdfund!

The spookiest month of the year has been a busy one with so many announcements and updates! In business news, the November crowdfunding campaign has just launched, titled Falling for FRUCD. Our team’s goal has increased to $8,500 due to rising materials and shipping costs, and we need all the help we can get to continue building FE13. Every dollar counts, so please consider supporting our crowdfund if you are able. We appreciate it!

Summer Session Updates

FRUCD is proud to report that we have wrapped up another competition season! We didn’t get the competition results we were hoping for. On Day 4, we were unable to advance to the EV Active Technical Inspection due to persistent electrical issues. As a result, we were not able to compete in any of the dynamic events, including endurance, the same event we fell short in last year with FE11. However, these results are not a reflection of this team’s success. FE12 was an improvement in many ways:

Preparing for Competition

As the school year draws to a close and competition approaches quickly, our team has been putting in the hours to ensure everything runs smoothly.

In Unsprung, the wheel package manufacturing is finally complete and final adjustments have been made in order to get it on the car.

Aerodynamics’ carbon fiber elements have been printed!  Check out the footage below of some rotational angular sensor mounts being manufactured on the CNC machine. These sensors will be used to gather data on the behaviour of the car’s suspension.

April Updates

As competition draws closer, our team is wrapping up many components and preparing for the trip. The livery has been finalized and sponsor logos have been adhered! We can’t wait to see everything assembled.

Manufacturing Mania!

While winter quarter wound down, our team did the opposite, staying busy with working on the car and finals.

Unsprung focused on wheel package manufacturing this month and is almost done! The tripod housing, one of the more complex parts, is finalized, and they are now wrapping up other components. For example, the brake rotors and brake hats are being fit together, as seen in the test image below!
