Crossing the Finish Line on Fall Quarter
November 2025 Newsletter
With the end of the fall quarter fast approaching, our entire team has been busy balancing exams and team projects.
This past month, our fall crowdfund raised $3,810, raising a total of 45% of our goal! Thank you to all of our generous donors who make this crowdfunding possible. If you’d like to show support to our team beyond the annual crowdfunds, a year-round donation link has been re-added to our website through Give UC Davis. Check it out on our homepage or down below.
This month also saw our final design review, where each of our subteams received invaluable feedback from alumni and industry professionals. We thank everyone who attended for presenting and critiquing designs!
Wheel package is currently making adjustments based on the feedback their subteam received. Manufacturing is continuing with several components as this quarter wraps up, and they are on track to meet their manufacturing goals for the winter quarter, including production of all 4 uprights.
Electrical has finalized all PCB designs and has sent them out for production! Unfortunately, the subteam ran into some EMI issues with FE12 due to changes in the accumulator wiring harness, which caused dropouts with BMS communication. To prevent issues like this for FE13, the team has spent time researching methods of noise characterization on a vehicle level. Additionally, they have also made great progress on the wiring harness design for FE13 with the help of our sponsor RapidHarness. Thank you for your support of FRUCD!
Chassis manufacturing has finally begun, having recently received bent and notched tubes back from their sponsors, Gerlinger Steel and Upstream Engineering. Fitting and welding of tubes is well underway, and tabs are already on the horizon. A huge amount of progress is expected to occur in the first week of winter break, as several key members are staying in Davis to help accelerate the manufacturing process. The frenzy is expected to carry over into the first week or two of the new year, but the team is still on track to smash last year’s timeline, marking the third year in a row that the chassis has been finished earlier than the previous year.
In accumulator news, the SES and ESF have been submitted, and the team currently awaits feedback. They have made progress on GLV packaging, the LV battery, and have swapped a new fuse in the meantime. They have also started progress on FE14’s accumulator and have gotten a Tesla sponsorship for the upcoming year, funding our new cells and BMS chips. Thank you so much to Tesla for supporting our team! What amazing design progress for the subteam, especially as we look into the future.
We look forward to what next month will bring as the quarter winds down and a new year picks up! We hope everyone has a cozy and restful winter break.
